We checked into Hilton Atlanta. I wouldn’t have necessarily chosen the Hilton but it was the overflow hotel for the conference I was attending so it was cheap. And boy o’ boy was it cheap, not so much in price but in the whole experience. They had nickel and dime-ing down to a science. I wouldn’t have been shocked to see “Laundry fee - $2.00/towel” on my bill.

Anyway one of the highlights, other than the view was the Conrad Hilton biography "Be My Guest" that was placed next to the bed.

See excerpt on the subject of his marriage/divorce to Zsa Zsa Gabor:
"Like my hotel negotiations at the time, our divorce arrangements were drawn out and difficult. It was almost two years before the suit was filed September 1946. When the settlement was made it seemed ironic that it was the exact amount I had once raised to buy the St. Francis Drake, a large and beautiful hotel. I did not grudge a penny of it. It was true that a Gabor could bring much laughter and gaiety into any man's life - if he could afford it and if his faith permitted.
It was a priceless moment for me, however, when I was able to approach the altar of my church and participate in the sacraments once more..."

Which throws a new light on his great-granddaughter as I doubt she could charm a man into not only marriage but also giving up his religion on her behalf. Although she might manage to cause a man to drop to his knees and praise his God for sweet release from such a creature. That part I believe.
Anyway, at least the the old man had some style. Too bad we're still paying for it.
