Day Six - Wednesday

We mostly sat around, ate and played more dominos while recovering from the nights excitement. We cooked out on the grill, a rare treat in January if youre not from California, and watched the sunset. The house was positioned at the mouth of the Russian and we spotted a lone elephant seal sunning himself on the sand isthmus that marked the transition where the river flows out to sea. Late into another game of dominos we heard a horrible waling noise that I hoped with all my being we wouldnt hear again because they had in no way recovered yet from the raccoon encounter and this was the last thing they needed to hear. So just to show everyone everything was fine I went out onto the balcony to see if I could find anything, a wounded elk, anything and saw that the elephant seal wed been watching all day was making a big, loud show of leaving his territory by bellowing into the night. But once again, I dont think they really believed me because his dad then turned on every single light available insuring that while we could see nothing, if something did mean us harm it most definitely could see us. I went to bed soon after but they stayed up for quite awhile.
