Whoever does the taxidermy for the Point Reyes ranger station is an animal stuffing genius. Point in fact, the new turkey vulture exhibit. Such life like expressions, just look at the world-weary been-there-done-that expression in the buzzard’s eye. And the dead raccoon, I’ve never seen carrion looking better.

And they were building on some solid material already. The bobcat on prairie dog scene itself is a masterpiece. I mean just look at the intensity. That’s drama.

Even an animal as dopey as a deer looks alert and ready for action.

The Pt. Reyes displays beat the pants of the Sonoma Valley ranger station any day. Sonoma has volume but totally lacks quality. Please, I saw a stuffed lynx there that looked like it was molded with a baseball bat. Sure, Sonoma wine & cheese is fine but it’s no bear vs. mountain lion scene that’s for sure.
