Honestly, I never thought that the window box and deck tomatoes would have made it this far. But they’re living n’ thriving, so much so that I had to prune for the first time ever in the history of plant ownership. So, in a fit of optimism I planted two more tomato plants, Miracle Sweets which are a big red juicy variety, some sweet basil and a Serrano pepper plant. They now live on the roof deck with my four newly pruned and staked out Mr. Stripey heirloom tomato plants which are on the verge of fruiting little tiny tomato budlets.

When I told Mr. P that when I thought about adding more plants I couldn’t come up with anything I wanted to grow that wasn’t edible, it just seemed a waste of time and the small amount of space available. And he replied “You mean like crops?.” And when I thought about it yes, like crops. So, as it turns out you can take the girl out of Indiana but you can’t take the Indiana out of the girl.
