The corner where I live is the most accident-prone corner in the world. It could be that California has some of the worst drivers known to man, they're brain damaged or high I can't tell, or there's something magical about my corner. Anyway at least once a day I hear the screeching of brakes and about once a week, usually on a Saturday, someone bites it. The first month we lived here there was a near fatal crash. Our whole building filled with oily smoke and what I thought was blood but later found out was radiator fluid was streaming down the street into the gutters. Last Saturday we came home to find the cops leaving and the detritus of car accident in front of our garage.

This also extends to pedestrians, I tried to cross the street at this corner once and it's nearly impossible. The traffic lights on each end of the further blocks are timed so there's always traffic coming from one direction. Yesterday I was watching this guy waiting to cross for about ten minutes from my window. He finally ran across and narrowly dodged a truck and all I could think was Frogger.
