When my parents came to visit we took them down to Fort Point to see the Hitchcock Vertigo view of the Golden Gate Bridge and discovered it's crab season in San Francisco. Evidently anyone can go crabbing off Chrissy Field near Fisherman's Wharf. All it takes is a net, a strong back, a whole lot of chicken necks and in some instances a lot of beer. There seemed to be a whole range of anglers from serious fisherman to groups of friends and families.

This one guy was crabbing while his bored wife and hyper son who was maybe eight years old stood by and watched. The guy was pulling up these little tiny crabs and trying to see if they hit the four inch size limit and the kid would just scream in fear every time his dad brought up a net and run like hell pleading with him to keep the crab away from him and throw it back. The crabs were maybe two inches across. But some people were really pulling in some pretty good sized crabs.

So we think we might take a crack at it sometime because crabs are pretty tasty and it's hard to resist the thought of pulling 'em out of the bay for the price of a few chicken necks.
