A&F (A Brief History)

Like any great institution A&F football has had its share of behind the scenes power struggles. There have been stories of triumph of the human spirit, men and women put to the test. There have been winners and there have been losers.

Abercrombie & Fitch football was first played in Lincoln Park located in Chicago IL, on a lovely fall day in 1997. That much we know. But even in the beginning there was a question as to who originated the idea. Was it really Tony?

Tony has bitterly asserted that he had came up with the original concept of "JCrew football" and that Matt K. stole his idea, turned it around to "Abercrombie & Fitch" football in a merciless grab for glory.

Matt K. countered by saying that he has never made a grab for glory or anything else of Tony's. And that no one showed up until he organized it and what did Tony care from 2,500 miles away anyway? Maybe he should just hush up until he actually shows up and plays a game.

And from those beginnings sprung a game as much concerned with fashion and photography as it was the grid iron action.
